Basic History
The Adventist Review is the flagship journal of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
and has been in publication for more than 150 years. Founded in July of 1849 by
a 27-year-old preacher, James White, and his 20-year-old wife, Ellen, it is one
of the oldest religious publications in North America. The Review is published
weekly in an unbroken cycle since that July 1849 issue.
Basic Beliefs
The four defining principles of Adventism are incorporated into every issue.
- Spirituality
- to know God as a living reality
- Message and Mission - the belief that
Jesus is coming again soon and that the world needs to hear His offer of
salvation
- Diversity - a world family with a
world message
- Reader Interaction - strong
individuals who follow present truth, a place where readers learn, interact,
have their say and help shape the Adventist fellowship.
