Basic History
David Bruce, who is a graduate of North Park University/Seminary in Chicago and a fan of both Jesus and movies, created Hollywood Jesus in 1998.

From 1985-90, David Bruce, while attending seminary, pastored a church in the middle of South Chicago's gang population. He was instrumental in creating programs of rehabilitation for the area's homeless, abuse survivors, and recovering addicts. 

In 1994, Bruce accepted a call to return to his homeland, California. Always a media enthusiast, before attending seminary, David Bruce worked in media at NBC-TV and in publishing. His publishing career involved mystery, rock, and Christian magazines. The Christian magazines were the beginnings of blending Jesus and pup culture. He felt that the current magazines in circulation were too family oriented and did not  address the issue of spirituality.

Currently, David Bruce is writing a book titled Hollywood Jesus.

Basic Beliefs
Hollywood Jesus exists because, in Western culture, filmmakers are the storytellers that connect the viewer with the realities of the mysteries of life that appeal to our inner quest for truth and purpose. The images in the movies that spark this inner quest stay with us for a lifetime.
