Basic History
Seeds of Hope, Inc. is a private, independent group of believers responding to a
common burden for the poor and hungry of God's world, and acting on the strong
belief that biblical mandates to feed the poor were not intended to be optional.
Housed by the community of faith at Seventh and James Baptist Church in Waco,
Texas, the group works to seek out people of faith who feel called to care for
the poor; and to affirm, enable, and empower a variety of responses to the
problems of poverty. Formerly the publisher of Seeds Magazine and
the supplement Sprouts, Seeds of Hope is now working to produce a variety
of resources and periodicals concerning how people of faith can and must respond
to hunger issues.
Basic Beliefs
The philosophy of Seeds of Hope Publishers involves the realities of hunger and poverty,
like the ministry of St. Francis of Assisi. "Simplify your life and feed
the poor," is the mantra for Seeds Publishers.
Jesus commanded, "For I was hungry and you
fed me; I was thirsty and you gave me water; I was a stranger and you
invited me into your homes; naked and you clothed me; sick and in prison and you
visited me...When you did this to the least of those, you have done this unto
me" (Matt 25: 35-40). Seeds of Hope Publishers are convinced that humanity
is put on the earth to help each other, and that Seeds can still enable
and inspire those who have chosen the most difficult task...the least of these.
