Basic History
The National Association of Congregational Christian Churches - also known as the NACCC or just the NA - was founded in 1955. It is a voluntary association of free churches, each church having one vote in the affairs of the association. It grew out of a need by about 200 congregations who chose not to join the merger that was taking place with other church, that eventually formed the United Church of Christ. The Association was formed to give those congregations a national fellowship which would not threaten the freedom of each congregation. Since that time, the National Association has more than doubled in size.

The NACCC has cordial relationships with a number of state and Congregational associations. These, however, are independent of the National Association, and the NA is likewise independent of them. Many Congregational Christian churches choose to belong to both the NA and a state or regional association, but they are not required to belong to either.

Basic Beliefs
The association itself is governed by Articles of Association and Bylaws designed to allow local congregations to consult and advise together as churches upon matters of common concern to them, both temporal and spiritual, without infringing on their powers of self-government.

Churches which are members of the NA pay no dues or assessments. The expenses of the Association are met from voluntary contributions solicited from the Congregational Christian Churches and also from special gifts and legacies.

Basic Facts
Website information states presently, 426 churches in 39 states and two Canadian provinces are members of the NACCC. Approximately 70,000 individuals belong to these churches and 600 pastors. There are also 11 associate member churches, 25 affiliated member churches, and two honorary member churches from three states, the District of Columbia, and six foreign countries.
