Basic History
The Christian Reformed Church (CRC), founded in 1857, is a Protestant church in the Dutch Calvinist tradition. The CRC is biblically based, confessionally committed, bi-national (Canada and the US) in structure, and multi ethnic in membership. The theology of the CRC is in the main stream of the Protestant Reformation and closely parallels that of other Reformed and Presbyterian churches.

Basic Beliefs
The Christian Reformed Church accepts the Bible as the inspired word of God. The CRC is committed by subscription to the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed and the Athanasian Creed as meaningful expressions of the historic Christian faith. The CRC is also creedally united in the Belgic Confession (1561), the Heidelberg Catechism (1563) and the Canons of Dort (1618-19).

Covenantal in theology and evangelical in emphasis, the CRC baptizes infant children of adult professing members. The CRC disapproves of lodge membership and of excesses in personal lifestyles. The CRC is pro-life, active in addressing many social issues, and strongly committed to Christian education as an alternative to the public school system from elementary through graduate schools. Ecumenically, the CRC has contacts with both evangelical and mainline denominations.
