Basic History
The Protestant Hour radio
program was launched in 1945 by an informal association of denominations.
The Protestant Radio Center was chartered in 1949 by representatives of Agnes
Scott College, Candler School of Theology, Columbia Theological Seminary, Emory
University, the Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church U.S., the Presbyterian
Church U.S.A., the Protestant Episcopal Church, the United Lutheran Church, and
the National Council of Churches Southeastern office. A few years later,
production of the radio program was unified when the PRC realized its dream of
building its own headquarters near the Emory University campus in Atlanta,
Georgia. The name of the organization was changed in 1954 to The
Protestant Radio and Television Center, Inc. (PRTVC). In 2000, Emory
University purchased the property for campus expansion and The Protestant Hour
found a new home between two of Atlanta's landmarks -- the Fox Theater and the
Varsity restaurant -- in the Pritchett Center on the campus of All Saints'
Episcopal Church. The new facility includes a state-of-the-art audio
recording studio and editing facilities. Our five denominations - the
Episcopal Media Center, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Presbyterian
Church (U.S.A.), United Church of Christ, and United Methodist Church - continue
to work together to produce the finest ecumenical programming available to
provide God's light for your life.

Basic Facts
The mission of The Protestant Hour, Inc., is
to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ by creating, producing, marketing, and
distributing ecumenical programs through contemporary communications media.
In a culture that seems more confusing,
meaningless, and uncertain by the day, people from all walks of life are sensing
a deep need for God to form the foundation of their lives. They seek to
experience authentic hope and intelligent guidance. They yearn to hear
Good News for a change. They want inspiration for the real world.
Our goal is to provide that inspiration - through our interdenominational radio,
television, and Intern outreach - to men and women of all ages and all
backgrounds, whether they've been involved in a church for years, or are seeking
God for the first time. In the current media marketplace, we bring a voice
that needs to be heard - the voice of five mainline denominations.
Throughout the years, our program has won
numerous awards - including the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award for
excellence in broadcasting. But the most rewarding recognition comes each
week from listeners and viewers who appreciate the inspiring messages. For
